Welcome to The Grove, a hostel for hikers in Franklin, NC, the first ATC-designated Appalachian Trail Community.
Just a short walk from downtown, we’re close to restaurants, grocery stores, breweries, and an outfitter: everything needed for a perfect town stay.

We offer courtesy shuttles from and back to Rock Gap (Nobo mile 105.9, 13 miles from the hostel) or Winding Stair Gap (Nobo mile 109.6 / Sobo mile 2088.9, 11 miles from the hostel) at set daily times.
During Nobo hiker season, we also work in conjunction with Macon County Transit to bring in and return hikers to Rock and Winding Stair Gaps.
It is an easy hitch from Winding Stair, and we’re happy to connect folks who prefer more flexibility with local area shuttle drivers.

Registered service animals with documentation are welcome to stay in the upstairs private suite only. Animals are not allowed in the hostel’s common areas.

The Grove is our home as well as a hiker hostel. We want all guests in our home to have a restful stay, so our policies include: quiet hours from 9:30PM-6:00A<, no drugs or alcohol on the property, and respectful use of hostel space. Click here for all our policies.

About the Hostel
Individual nightly fees, inclusive of the 12.75% NC sales & occupancy taxes:
$45 bunk
$95 private room with king bed
$105 private suite with queen bed, half-bath and separate entranceOur bunk rooms are co-ed.
We accept cash, cards, and Venmo. We pass on the service fees incurred from cards and Venmo.

Our Story
Willow is a Nobo thru hiker, class of ’22.
Bluebs is a Sobo thru hiker, class of ’21.
They met on the AT in 2024, and The Grove Hostel is their way of paying forward the life-changing experience of the trail to fellow hikers.
